2021 Cycle Lab Maluti Double 90 cancelled
It is with a heavy heart that the Pedal Power Association has cancelled the 2021 Cycle Lab Maluti Double 90 that was set to take place on Saturday 18 September. Following the President’s announcement on 11 July, we are once again in a situation where the current adjusted level 4 lockdown regulations pose various challenges for mass participation events. The outlook for the COVID-19 pandemic over the next two to three months will certainly continue to impact capacity restrictions for gatherings and events. This continues to be a major consideration in the planning of the 2021 Maluti Double 90 set to take place on 18 September. We, as PPA, whilst wishing to host successful events recognise the importance of reducing the possibility of continuing the spread of the virus. We are also aware that many teams have made travel plans and accommodation bookings that may incur cancellation expenses should the decision be delayed any further.
Our events team will communicate with teams directly with more information. We are consulting with local authorities soon to secure a date for the 2022 event but teams can plan their training around the normal event date of mid April. As per the terms and conditions of entry, teams are allowed to defer their entry to 2022.
